about

‘The story of serial killer Sean Vincent Gillis (a.k.a. The Other Baton Rouge Killer) was the inspiration for this song’s lyrics. He could go on for about ten years, because the murders were never connected and therefore his presence remained unknown to the men and women on the good side of the law. The title (which -- like practically every Ramirez song -- is a line from the lyrics) and lyrics can be seen as a nod to Danny’s careerlong music underground status as well, and in the first line I chose for 'more than twenty years' to match my own murderfolk singer-songwriter history. The chord progressions for the chorus are pretty much in a traditional Danny Ramirez vein and may at one or two points be similar to some deep cut from my back catalogue (the 2004 The Night Stalker!-tape), while the verses have quite interesting vocal and guitar chord melodies going on, if I may say so.’

lyrics

It’s more than twenty years now this murderous life did begin
Once I killed the first I knew it would happen again
Sure, I had some cooling off time
But never for too long ‘cause I’m
One with an urge for homicide dwelling within

Chorus:
The weapon subject to change
No single murder the same
The victims all differ in age
And in obscurity I remain

None of the killings have been connected this far
And, God willing, I won’t come up on the radar
My presence forever unknown
I am in this story alone
I’ve been on an anonymous murder trip from the start

Chorus:
The weapon subject to change
No single murder the same
The victims all differ in age
And in obscurity I remain
I am not looking for fame
They will find some other to blame
So regardless of how much lives I’ve claimed
I forever will be unnamed
Yes, regardless of how much lives I’ve claimed
I forever will be unnamed
